How to use the Doodle Portrait template
- 1
A clear, front-facing photo. Doodle lines are thick, so small features — thin glasses frames, fine jewellery, subtle patterns — get absorbed into the strokes.
- 2
Click Generate — the AI re-renders your photo using the template prompt shown below. It runs without an account, on Shotari Basic.
- 3
The result appears right here. Re-run any time — each generation differs slightly. Downloading needs an account.
What this template does
Redraws the photo as a playful hand-drawn doodle: bold black outlines, colourful scribbles, a clean background. It keeps the visible energy of a pen on paper rather than smoothing everything into a tidy vector illustration, and the likeness is held so it still reads as you underneath the marker strokes.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as a cartoon avatar?
No. A doodle keeps visible pen strokes and an unpolished sketchbook feel — wobbly lines, scribbled fill, deliberate roughness. 3D Cartoon Character gives you a smooth rendered avatar with clean edges and studio lighting. Pick doodle when you want it to look drawn by a hand, not by a renderer.
Can I get it on a transparent background?
Not directly — the template produces a clean flat background, not transparency, and the file comes back as a normal image. Run the result through the background remover afterwards if you need a cut-out.
Is this template free to use?
You can generate twice a day with no account at all. A free account adds 20 credits at signup plus 10 more daily. Downloading requires an account, and paid credits are what give you watermark-free output with full commercial rights; free-tier use is personal-use only.
Which model runs it, and what does it cost?
Shotari Basic by default, which costs 0 credits. You can switch to a premium model — Shotari Pro (2 credits), Seedream 5 Lite (3), GPT Image 2 (5), Nano Banana Pro (10) and others — but those bill paid credits, so they need a signed-in account with a paid balance. Without an account the job always runs on Shotari Basic and the page says so.
